A gusty wind but dry conditions allowed the girls to start positively. Strong carries from the pack had E&R on the backfoot as we battled to get to the try line. A clash saw an unfortunate stoppage as we looked to open the scoring. The clash resulted in our tough prop Amelie being withdrawn from the action for the rest of the game. Scrum to us 5m out, solid scrum allowing Freya to release the backs who moved the ball, trying find the space but forced the pass once too often. An interception and E&R released their rapid 12 who throughout the day proved to be the difference. As half time came 15-5 down felt a mile away from the truth with territory and possession dominance with Farnham, but on those moments E&R backs used their skill and brilliant reading if the game allowed them to keep the scoreboard ticking whilst Farnham struggled to smash through the resolute E&R defense.

The second half started much the same way with 2 further breakaways in the first 10 mins allowing E&R to stretch the lead with 2 converted tries. 29-5 down and a mountain to climb! We have been trying to get the girls to manage themselves with zero coach input under the posts etc... they worked out a model that worked. A phenomenal effort in the last quarter saw Orla and Amy Gelder finish lovely multi phase attacks and with captain Zara Harris grabbing a brace and converting the last we were praying for a long period of injury time. That was not to be and with Farnham girls on the charge the ref blew for the end leaving Farnham over the moon with a strong finish to an otherwise frustrating game.
