Game 1 - vs Guildford - Won
Game 2 - vs Haslemere - Won
Game 3 - vs Cranleigh - Lost
The first game was a tough one, first of the season clearly and Guildford were well organised. Nevertheless the team got stuck in and claimed the first try. Guildford came back with two but the lads equalised before scoring a late try to clinch it. Gritty performance from the team.
Confidence was high for the second game and sure enough the boys quickly notched up an unassailable lead. That said, Haslemere kept coming at them and they were tested a good number of times. It was great to see them respond well!
The final game was probably best forgotten, with the team failing to get over the line. To their credit, the Cranleigh team delivered when opportunities presented but there was better in our team, already seen in the earlier games. This said, the team kept their heads up until the end, unlucky not to have been fruitful in attack.
Very enjoyable rugby today. The squad moved the ball around well, keeping the game flowing. They broke their oppo's defensive line repeatedly, those breaks not limited to the bigger chaps!! It's great to see them support each other on the hoof.
We've got some work to do and we've got a better view of what that is now. Notably, we need to be quicker clearing the rucks and moving the ball away from the contact area. All things to work on in the next training session.
