Match Report by Dorian Soanes

Vs Alton

The first match against Alton started with the chiefs making some basic errors from the kick-off.

Alton’s ball skills appeared superior and were winning field position with the kicking game.

This initial dominance was broken by several superb dominant carries by Oliver Kitchen culminating in Farnham’s first try.
This inspired a change in attitude in the Chiefs side.

Mac Deakin kept testing the opposition from the base of the ruck or scrum with notable lines and carries form Taylor, Hunter and Enzo.

Johnny Thompson led the way in the defensive effort backed up with solid work form Harry, Oliver Webb and Joeseph.

However, this wasn’t enough to keep a clean sheet and Alton crossed the line in the first half.

This didn’t stop Farnham finishing the first half a try up after another barraging run by Oliver Kitchen.

Alton came out of the blocks hard in the second half.

Johnny Thompson maintained his defensive master class assisted by Hector who harried the opposition both forcing multiple turn overs.

Stanley Bunnage excellent service from the base of the ruck led to more Farnham attacks with many of the Farnham players involved including Arun, James Wild and Ted creating gaps and running lines leading eventually to a breakdown in defence and 2 more tries for Farnham through Oliver and Hunter who were both proving too difficult for Alton to handle.

Despite a good defensive effort Farnham were resting on the laurels and allowed in 2 more Alton tries to draw the half but win the game.

Vs Farnborough

From the start of the game the teams seemed very evenly matched.

Farnborough had some big ball carriers but Farnham showed they meant business with notable tackles from Johnny, Hector and Harry.

Hunter was still proving to be lethal in attack and proved this with an early try.

Farnborough then worked on grinding down their opposition with close forward play and working up
the field for their first try.

As half time loomed a pick and go from Hector resulting in a highly controversially disallowed try left the game in the balance.

The coaches drew the team in and rallied them to new heights so they could achieve levels of ability never before thought possible.

This was just what the Chiefs needed and the home team were quick to respond to the refs questionable call with a whole team attacking effort involving carries and off loads from Arun, Charlie, Arlo and Ben resulting in Hunters second try.

Farnham were now playing with the confidence and pomp of a team in command and looked to
create enough daylight between them and Farnborough.

The coup des gras was administered by James wild who beat several players on his way to the try line to seal the game 3-1 to Farnham.
