A much beleaguered squad of 15 U14's B squad players turned up this Sunday; nevertheless with the thought that they had beaten Farnborough last year, they were quietly confident of another win. Farnborough turned up with 26, 80% of them were very large – much larger than our boys, Farnham quickly felt uneasy and could sense a beating, but nobody said a thing.
The game started rapidly, our boys were immediately pushed back into our own twenty two so Max Devergne did an upper and under landing just on the half way, Farnborough tried to secure this ball but lost it, quick thinking Farnham picked up and scored.
From then on the Farnham boys started to realize that even through Farnborough were big and strong they were not fast. The mission was then set...the forwards to secure the ball, Harry Jenkins run a couple of phases of crash ball with Archie Healey and then Karel Coetzee sucking in the defenders to then spin the ball out to the backs, into the hands of speedster Archie Rawnsley and out until reaching the wing men - Tom Clark and Isaac Walker.
Once they realised the plan worked, the boys kept running the same lines and added to the try count.
Tom Clark was named man-of-the-match by the players.
A fantastic team effort resulted in more than a few trys and very happy players!
Chris Jenkins.
