U16Bs beaten by a strong Chobham B team

The U16Bs had a tough day in the office at Chobham but came home with heads held high

On a beautiful warm and sunny morning in Chobham and with Mrs Adams and the well behaved Lani, the family dog in attendance, what could possibly go wrong?
Well, they breed them big in Chobham and with their four substitutes towering over their coach, Kian Ashcroft kicked off up hill onto the wind. Some good passing and running from the Chobham backs and poor tackling from Farnham, we were soon 14-0 down. What looked like being a very one sided affair then became a game of attrition and for the next 20 minutes both sides battled for control of the game. Attacking moves were fraughted by solid tackling and counter rucking. The line outs and scrums were keenly contested with both teams winning quality ball. Playing up-hill was proving difficult for the Farnham team and towards the end of the half Chobham scored another two tries to make the half time score 28-0.
With the elements with us in the second half hopes were high that we could put some points in the board. However we started poorly and conceded an early try. Like the first half the omens weren’t good but we then had a good spell of possession and pressure and we were camped in the Chobham half or more accurately in their 22. Although a couple of assaults on their try line were thwarted, our pack and especially Kian Ashcroft were not to be denied. The try scorer then converted his own try.
The size and pace of the Chobham B team was starting to take its toll on our boys and the game ended with a couple more scores to make it 49-7. It was good to see Elliot Beach, Max Foskett and Will Mylchreest all playing again after long term injuries and the boys conducted themselves with dignity and pride in the face of an impossible opposition.
Podium points were awarded as follows
3 - Seb D'Entrecasteau for a great morning's graft
2 - Elliot Beach on his return to the team
1 - Kian Ashcroft for a superb performance
