The U16s showed their skill and courage against a physical side from Dorking and take a win to progress in the Cup from a 27-27 score draw with a 5-4 try count

The U16s started their 2018 Waterfall Cup campaign with a win at home against top Surrey rivals Dorking on a Remembrance Sunday 1st pitch saturated by the overnight rain. Dorking turned out a team of U16 Giants to face the Farnham boys but Farnham more than made up for a deficit of kilos and inches with superb technique and a steely desire to win as a team.

This was a whole squad performance and nothing was left on the field of play by any of the team. The five try scorers for Farnham were Tom Garner, Alfie McCormick, Aston Ulisse, Max Campbell-Harris and Tom Lee and despite the difficulties caused by the swirling wind, Finlay Anderson collected two further points for a successful conversion to deliver 27 in total. Dorking scored 4 tries, 2 conversions and a penalty to take 27 too so the scores were drawn but Waterfall comp rules give the win to the team scoring more tries.

Farnham therefore progress to the second round of the cup in a 16th December Quarter Final - Our oppo is currently TBA. After having bested the biggest pack in the Cup, Farnham’s entire scrum deserves a special mention but Podium points went to Alfie McCormick for his superb speed and agility, George Guy for a Faf De Klerk like display of nuisance scrum-halfery and Jake Kimberley for adding his astonishing Physicality to the breakdown in the face of substantial opponents.

What a match and what a team! Roll on the Quarter Finals...
