Farnham hornets made a short trip to Camberley for the first much anticipated clash between the teams this season.

With both teams turning out strong wins in their last few games, a strong Farnham side was needed and delivered. Conditions were ideal for a game of rugby, the weather fine with no rain or high winds. Both sides took to the pitch and Camberley kicked off. For the first 15 minutes of the game, both sides seemed closely matched with neither putting points on the board. Farnham were unlucky to lose two players in quick succession with Olly Richford & Jonny Weldon being sliced down by the local sniper who appeared to be aiming for hamstring.

It was soon clear that the Farnham pack were superior and constantly made yards with ball in hand and turned over a lot of Camberley ball. As per usual Andy James conducted the simple plays at 10, allowing both forwards and backs to link up well and eventually breaching Camberley’s defence with Farnham's first points of the day. Within a couple of minutes of Farnham’s try, Camberley tried to level the score when a ball went loose close to the touchline, their quick thinking winger scooped up the ball and appeared to have a clear run home for the try line. Unbeknown to him Chris Dury was chasing down hard and from a great angle, put in what appeared to be the tackle of the game. Several minutes later Camberley were successful in crossing the try line to level the score. Further sustained pressure from Farnham forwards allowed a penalty in front of the posts that Andy James simply put through the uprights. Camberley quickly seemed dejected and their phase play was poor, with 2 more tries coming from Farnham before half time.

The Second half saw a poor start for Farnham with concentration and composure being lost on certain attacking plays, thankfully the defence still held strong. Composure regained, further tries came from both Farnham forwards and backs, taking the eventual score line to 46 – 5, consisting of 3 tries for winger Patrick Anderson, 2 tries for blind side flanker Ralph Phillips, 1 try for open side flanker Joe Major and 16 points including 1 try for Andy James.

Dick of the day goes to Chris Dury who failed to find touch from a Farnham penalty even though the kick was a simple 10 metre dink. All 18 players played their hearts and souls out for what potentially could have been a tough fixture. This week does not see a man of the match it sees Men of the Match instead after Skipper Dan Ross had to split the award 4 ways for the immense effort all 4 put in. These were Joe Major, Chris Dury, Gareth Yeomans and Patrick Anderson.

Another strong performance for Farnham, now sees them go into Christmas rest period looking to carry on the form for the second half of the season in January.
