We took large group of circa 48 players to face 2 Windsor teams in the shadow of the castle.
Team 1 captained by James Grey faced a physical side who from the whistle were looking to intimidate our lighter pack and disrupt through the midfield. We focused on ball retention and width.
Our defence stood firm & was evenly matched at the breakdown. A frustrated Windsor team boiled over and ill discipline cost them a red card. Our set piece was working well, winning lineout ball and driving Windsor back in the scrum. This allowed us a solid platform for Ben Clarke to build our attack & run plays through our midfield of Ed Jolly & Finn Moss.
2 missed tackles and an effective kick chase resulted in 3 scores for Windsor in 1H.
2H Farnham responded with intensity and width. Fynn Best moved to 10 and Max Halliwell to 13. We made yards out wide through Tyler Buckley, Charlie Hughes and dominated upfront with our driving maul. The breakthrough finally came from Siyaphi Mutisi cutting in off his wing and breaking into the 22 and with 2 passes found Will Eastlake to power over from 5 metres out. Another spell of sustained pressure and Ollie Lewis drove over for our second try. We crossed the line twice more but one was held up and the other dislodged when placing the ball meant the game finished 22-10.
The team is improving with each game but we left scores out there.
