A fabulous day hosted by Maidenhead saw all Farnham Junior girls sides take on Maidenhead teams back to back on their 1stXV AGP pitch while parents and supporters cheered on from the stand.
Our last start of season friendly has set us up nicely to begin the HOB league next weekend. A really competitive match saw Farnham made to work hard for their win. A scrappy opening for both sides meant nobody took control of the game until the first scrum. Farnham set a platform that along with a rock solid lineout would bring control and ultimately a platform to build from.
Debutant Lola (wing/Full back) drove straight through the heart of the Maidenhead back line after sustained pressure from the Farnham pack to open the score next to the posts giving Bea a simple conversion. Next score saw Farnham catch and drive from a lineout which Maidenhead repelled only to be slightly too slow resetting when Amelie (Loose head) smashed down the defensive line to score her first of the season.
Maidenhead then came back, getting the ball through the hands and into some very quick and steppy runners. But Farnham kept on their dominance at the lineout with another catch and drive being repelled on the try line, only to be followed next phase by some deft footwork by Eira (tighthead at that time) to score her second of the season. At half time it was a very competitive 12-17 to Farnham.
Captain Zara rallied the team at half time with a rousing well done chat and reminder of where we needed to tighten things up. And the team listened! The second half continued and Farnham increased their lead adding a further 21 unanswered points largely down to some mesmerising running from Bea N-S (Full Back) who converted most apart from a 95m length of the pitch score which she gave to Zara (12) to slot over. The only other scorer in the half was Molly Warnes (8) who had another strong showing building on from last week.
