With 13 players out injured or with rugby, theatre or Remembrance Sunday commitments - 15 Farnham U18 girls made the trip to Sutton & Epsom (S&E) to kick-off their Surrey Cup campaign. Farnham opened the scoring through Isabella following an amazing 60 metre run, which Tegan converted. S&E responded with two converted tries of their own through their bludgeoning forward pack before Isabella scored again, this time from close range. 14-12 to S&E at half time.
Farnham had the best of the opening exchanges in the 2nd half, but S&E scored two break away tries, including one from their England U18 full back who was otherwise well marshalled by the Farnham defence. At 28-12 with no subs, it could have been a long second half. However, much to their credit and symptomatic of the collective spirit, Farnham kept playing and were rewarded with the try of the day. A great team effort finished off by Mimi. Final score Sutton & Epsom 28 - 17 Farnham. The U18 Girls will dust themselves down and travel to Oakmeadians in Bournemouth next Sunday - this time in the National Cup.
