This weekend saw the Falcons back on home ground against a strong, confident Supermarine's team. Hard work and pressure was the key ingredients to this fixture and the Falcons accepted the challenge against an established oppo.

There were many big hits, and great hard lines run by both teams, with bruise news this week no doubt a hot conversational topic amongst the squad! With the blow of the first whistle, the Falcons began by roaring ahead to take the Supermarine's back to their half and further still, with an fortunate try held, the Supermarine's breathed a sigh of relief for a goal line drop out. Both teams unrelenting in gameplay, some fantastic tackles, line breaks and ball handling saw the Falcons break the nil score with a brilliant team try. The conversion angles proving to be tricky, the 2 points alluded. A quick restart, the Falcons kept up the momentum with another try making the score 10-0 within 4 mins of the last try-displaying real grit and determination against a tough opponent.

Full credit where it is due, the Supermarine's scrum was the weapon in their arsenal, using their power to their advantage to even up the points on the score board. The conversion in front of the posts, the Supermarine's gained the lead 10-12 just before the end of the first half. Not to be deterred, by the start of the second half a brilliant kick chase by scrumhalf Tegan saw her beat the oppo to the ball and get the try-a crowd pleaser on the balcony for sure! Conversion secured by Captain Zoe, the Falcons were back in the lead 17-12. Supermarine's edged towards the Falcons try line and despite a hard grafting defensive effort, the Supermarine's got the ball over the line, complete with the conversion, ending the game 17-19.

After the game, both teams agreed how close a game it was and it was great to have such a competitive fixture. These are the games that make the extra efforts in training and on the pitch worth the sweat-the win may have not been this time, but it's on the horizon.

Special mentions to our coaches Steve and Charlie, physio Lily, support from the side line as always was fantastic to hear. Great to see another outing for mother/ daughter Lucy and Holly Thompson, a proof of legacy within the squad! A fond farewell to Tilly C, once a Falcon, always a Falcon-go well and we look forward to seeing you go from strength to strength in your rugby journey!
