Coaches Report - Rob Milner

Dear all just wanted to say how immensely proud I was to coach the under 10s on Sunday. I was as tired and emotional as the boys were by the end and forgot to summarise properly so wanted to do my own 'in house' match report.

Hamish Watson: captain flawless. Did everything right was always at the breakdown first and led the pack with his normal 100% commitment.
Finlay: top impact. Scored some great tries, played with really soft hands dropped nothing all day and gave us real go forward.
Chris: direct and quick thinking. His pick and drive try was one of the real highlights of the day. Fantastic rucking all day long.
James: 'king of the dummy'. Superb carries all day and kept selling those dummies which gave us go forward. Again another forward who excelled at the breakdown.
Max C-H 'The Beast'. In the middle of everything, great physicality and desire for the win. Really set the tone for the great forward platform. Shame that he spilled that one over the line! Really deserved a try.
George 'fearless' Guy: Provided a superb link between between backs and forwards. Big runs and even bigger hits. Even when he was bloodied and bruised he wanted to be back on the pitch making a difference.
Dylan: Sharp and versatile. Made a big impact when moved to fly half. Always searching for the gap and broke the line well. Great ripped ball try, good going for the smallest player on the team.
Charlie: silky skills were his trademark for this tournament. Moving along the line he was always in the right place and showed great strength on the wing not allowing himself to be taken in to touch.
Ben: Great gliding. Showed his effortless change of pace to break through time and time again. Also made some great tackles.
Joel: The lightning bolt. His saving tackle against Old Whitgifians was magnificent. Tackled well all day and worked really hard. He's continuing to learn the game week on week and now is an integral member of the squad.
Ollie KP: 100% reliable. Didn't miss a tackle all day and made an impact with every carry. Even when he took a big knock his first thought was to get back on and play again. Top team player.
Max 'whirling dervish' Foskett: Great tackling and strong fierce runs that put the opposition on the back foot. Good game sense when George was in a ruck to step in as scrum half.

Also a huge thank you to the parents. You supported with exactly the right level of encouragement and good sportsmanship that makes me realise that moving over the border from Hampshire 3 seasons ago was the right call. I'm off on under 13 tour in a fortnight so won't be at London Irish tournament so won't see the boys play competitively again, but am already looking forward to next year.
Cheers

Rob Milner
