Farnham's demolition job

Match Report by David Kitchen

Despite a frosty start, the sun appeared just in time for kick-off, providing great conditions for a spectacular game of rugby; with the match location finally determined, Farnham played away in Warlingham. Despite the recent rain, the ground remained in outstanding condition, allowing for entertaining gameplay.

Farnham got off to a strong start, launching a powerful offensive phase defined by precision passing down the line, culminating in a quick try from Josh Bond, who surged over the line in the first minute of play.

Two minutes later, Farnham launched another attack that demolished Warlingham's defences. The team exhibited excellent communication and passing across the pitch, with Oliver Kitchen proving to be an unstoppable force while scoring his first try.

Following a brief pause due to a Warlingham injury, the tide shifted back in Farnham's favour as Archie Sterland-Green's stunning catch sparked
another attack. Farnham once again exhibited excellent communication and precise passing down the line. This choreographed play laid the
groundwork for Oliver Kitchen to smash through the defenders and score his second try.

During some beautiful rugby and commendable rucking attempts on both sides, Warlingham was awarded a penalty. Caspar Harris’ spectacular catch launched a rapid attack, which culminated with a tremendous run up the pitch. Following an offload to Sebastian Lloyd, he maintained the attack, barging past the opponents and earning critical distance, displaying the team's dedication to solid defence and strategic attack.

Mobifetoye Akin-Olugbade and his quick feet, dodged past the Warlingham defenders. Following closely after Mobifetoye Akin-Olugbade, Spencer Williams showed excellent support upon receiving the offload, which facilitated his try. Mobifetoye Akin-Olugbade and Spencer Williams worked as a fantastic combination.

Farnham's relentless attack, combined with their superb teamwork and passing down the line, caused another overlap, giving Oliver Kitchen the opportunity to score his third try. Another excellent example of teamwork from all players.

Following some great play by Warlingham, they launched an attack from their own try line. Farnham increased the pressure, resulting in two failed kicks down the field by Warlingham, setting up Archie Sterland-Green to dive onto a loose ball to score his first of many tries. Within the next several minutes, Farnham continued their attack, resulting in Archie Sterland-Green's second try and a first try for Theo Nicklin, showcasing their individual contributions to the team's success.

Warlingham’s perseverance and commitment, showed they were still in the game by quick passing and effective rucking and kicking, putting them near the Farnham try line. Despite Farnham's swift turnover, a knock-on increased pressure, putting Farnham on the defensive on their own try line. Following a scrum and a quick penalty awarded to Warlingham, they took advantage of the opportunity, going for the line and scoring a well-deserved try.

Farnham launched another powerful attack, hoping to score one more try before halftime. Freddie Greenyer led the attack with a tremendous run, while Spencer Williams once again shown great support to his teammates. Following a quick but intense period of rugby, Farnham once again shown their passing ability, allowing Archie Sterland-Green to exploit a gap and score his fourth try of the day; establishing himself as the GOAT (Greatest Of all Time) on the pitch.

Hunter Watts and Mobifetoye Akin-Olugbade, together as a powerful two- man team, put enormous pressure on the opposition. Their efforts paid off when Mobifetoye Akin-Olugbade seized a great intercept, displaying his speed and agility as he dashed towards the try line, scoring his try in the game.

Lucian De Souza and his outstanding sidestepping abilities provided flair to the game as the team fluidly transferred the ball down the line. This coordinated play culminated in Theo Nicklin capitalising on the passing and secured a try just 5 minutes before the end of the game.

Farnham’s MoM, Archie Sterland-Green said “Warlingham’s passing and kicking game were really good.”

The match had its share of amusing moments, including a funny occurrence in which Hunter Watts slid out of the pitch during a tackle, inadvertently sliding into some of the mums watching. To add to the humour, the referee mistakenly took Josh Bond out during the play. These light hearted moments added a dash of humour to the intense rugby match, highlighting the sport's lighter side and providing unforgettable highlights for both players and spectators.
