Match Report By Nick Paton
The U12 Farnham Warriors arrived at their home ground on Wilkinson Way in a confident mood, focussed on the game ahead against London Irish. Parents lined the pitch, relieved of the better weather, whilst coaches could barely contain their excitement, the Waterfall Cup had finally arrived!
Right from the off, Farnham’s defensive line speed was superb. Working as a team, time and again, London Irish attacks were quickly snubbed out. Farnham’s relentless pressure paid off, having over turned the ball, swift hands and a great line from Casper saw him over in the corner for the first try of the game.
Despite London Irish's competitiveness at the breakdown, Farnham maintained their early momentum scoring several tries. Spencer, Ollie, George, Mobi and Archie all crossed before half time - a combination of great passing, good running lines, quick thinking, as well as the odd goose step and expertly timed interception.
Such is the depth of the Farnham squad, half time changes only added to the dynamism of the Warrior's attack and defence. London Irish showed great spirit and got back into the game with two tries of their own but Farnham soon turned the screw with a further four tries; three for Mobi and another for George.
All in all, a dominant 10-2 victory made possible by excellent teamwork. The commitment from Enzo, Sebastian, Austin, Hunter and Reuben was outstanding. Whilst Josh, Johnny, Jago, Lucian and Freddie all put in the hard yards, blunting wave after wave of London Irish attacks.
