A solid performance today against a fired up and aggressive Dorking B side, with the boys coming away 10-14 winners!

Dorking B - 10
Farnham B - 14

Best decision making, most committed tackling and aggressive and technical rucking seen from them all season against a much bigger team.

Farnham weathered an hard early charge by Dorking, putting in some excellent tackles to keep the home side frustrated. We got the ball back in our own 22 and marched or way up the boggy pitch with textbook pick-and-go from Jack Bonthuys, Josh Warner and Harry Morgan. Ollie Lewis-Gorton supported all the way and went over for our first score under the posts. Tom Quick converted and it was all about Farnham for the rest of the half. Dorking are a well drilled team, but did not cope well with our backs hassling every bit of possession they had. The pressure paid off just before half time with Tyler Buckley intercepting a panicked pass. With Tyler's pace, he was never going to be caught. Another conversion from Tom Quick took us 0-14 up into halftime.

Dorking fought back in the second half. We lost Jamie Munroe to a shoulder injury and they capitalised on the disruption well, going over under the posts in a melee which saw some tempers flare. Unbelievably, we charged down their conversion. The coaches did not manage to see who the made the charge-down as we were separating players, but it's definitely worth celebrating!

Play resumed with Dorking pushing for a second score. Farnham rucked superbly today, with Ollie Gutierrez returning to awesome form turning the ball over no fewer than 5 times in the game. The ref, who did very well today, had a difficult time, and Dorking often felt we were offside. Perhaps, perhaps not. Either way, it certainly raised the temperature of the contest. Following a fractious set of rucks and mauls, Farnham dropped their guard and Dorking went over for their 2nd try, which was too tight in the corner for their kicker to convert.

We finished the game as we started, and it has to be said that our boys behaved impeccably and concentrated on the rugby (nearly) the whole time, and our discipline was the main difference in the two teams today. That, and lots of tackles.

Onwards to Ironsides next week!
