0-42 to Farnham, who dominated throughout the game.

Farnham visited Chipstead in the First Round of the Waterfall Cup (Surrey Cedar) and came away emphatic 42-0 winners. Chipstead were on the back foot from the whistle and we played most of our rugby in their half. Our forwards had a game plan for the muddy conditions, and they stuck to it, picking the ball off a solid ruck and constantly applying pressure. Our recycling on the floor and in the maul led to early forwards tries from Rory Hodges and Luke Griffiths. Tom Quick converted, and a few minutes later, with more pick-and-go, Luke went over for his second try.

The backs also had a game plan and to their credit they followed it, using our very fast centres Tyler Buckley and the rotating combo of Charlie Wickens and Henry Thompson to spoil any clean ball that Chipstead got. Our line speed in defence meant that Chipstead's backs were harried and hassled into making errors. In attack, Jasper Henderson at 15 popped up in the line often and made great yards with determination and a cracking offload under his arm at one point.

We dominated in the scrum today with Felix Samuels and Tom Sims shoving Chipstead around at will in the first half. In all we won six against the head today. A scrum in the Chipstead 22 led to a breakaway score at No.7 for Ben Willoughby, and minutes later Tom Sims broke tackles to score and lead us in the break at 27-0.

The second half saw Chipstead respond well, and they started to ruck and spoil our clean possession at the back foot. In response, we started to throw the ball out wider, with Rory Hodges popping up in the line to provide Max Halliwell with lots of ball on the wing. Following three or four phases of textbook handling, Luke Griffiths went over for his third try, converted by Tom Quick; followed shortly after by a well deserved Tyler Buckley try.

Rory Hodges capped off a superb performance at Hooker with a personal effort, capitalising on loose ball on the floor by Chipstead, dribbling the ball over the line for his second try of the day.

This may be the easiest opposition we face this year in the cup, but with the boys working hard for each other and playing such competent rugby, it looks good for further rounds.
