Farnham U14A's travelled down the A331 on Mother's Day to face old rivals Camberley who were in a rich vein of form. With a place in the Surrey Presidents Plate Final up for grabs the early exchanges were fiercely contested. Camberley played with the wind behind and with Farnham falling foul of the Ref's whistle and the home teams scrum on top some great defence was required to keep the home side at bay. With half time approaching the Camberley hooker snuck down the blind side to record the only score of the half.
With the wind behind in the 2nd half Farnham spent long periods of play in Camberley territory and the outstanding Aston Ullise latched onto a Tom Garner chip to score, half way between the posts and the side line. Finlay Anderson, who kicked superbly throughout the game, easily slotted the conversion, 7-5 to Farnham.
Camberley never looked like scoring in the 2nd half and more resolute defence saw Farnham through to the Plate final, where they will play Sutton and Epsom or Old Emmanuels on 23rd April.
Podium Points could have gone to any of the players in a real team performance but 3rd place went to Finlay for his fantastic kicking, 2nd to Tom Casali for another outstanding display in the back & 2nd rows and 1st place and the builders hard hat to Josh Smith for a battling display at prop and playing the whole game for the A's for the first time.
