vandals great start failed to produce points and experience of the Farnham team counted in a highly charged encounter.

For the first twenty minutes of the match it appeared as if the vandals side packed with younger players were going to score a hat full of points, using a high paced game, passing the ball to their enthusiastic back line. That they didn't score anything was the result of dogged defense and a bad day at the office kicking for their young scrum half. Farnham played in first gear and where unable to use their back as the rout one rugby of some of their childhoods took hold.
It took a moment of quick thinking from Simon Lewis to put the vets ahead taking a quickly tapped penalty pass from Rooney he skipped through the defense to run 50m to score under the post. This score knocked the wind out off the weybridge team who let their frustration show in a number of I'll tempered encounters throughout the rest of the match.
The second half saw the usual change in personnel at home games for the vets and within minutes Dominic Parker showing his frustration at benching was on hand in the opposition 22 too take a pass from the man of match baker and wriggle through a number of tackles to score. It was baker himself who scored next from a line out move, taking a fruit ball and bullocking a despairing winger and fullback aside to touch down.
With the rest of a large replacement bench brought on, the vets spent the last twenty minutes pushing for another score and although Payne was put in under the posts after a run from Evans and a linking pass from the tight head , the pass was adjudged forward by the ref.
Inevitably the vets in their wish to score made mistakes and after a ambitious pass from Hart was snapped up by the vandals wing to score, the game finished with farnham gifting another try after some miscommunication between The otherwise excellent Baker and Rooney at the base of a defensive scrum to allow the vandals scrum half to pick up and score as the last move of the game.
