No Shows for the second week meant that two teams from Farnham were again pitched against each other.

Maybe with the new club house, nice changing room/showers etc, more teams will take the opportunity to fulfill their fixtures, until then, it seems, Farnham sides will have to create more of these hard fought, enjoyable competitions.

Played on the small top pitch to negate the youth and speed of the second backline, the vets were able to use the slope to their advantage in the first half and where able to apply pressure through their weighty pack, whose ability to slow the ball at rucks a sign of wise old heads or blatant cheating (according to some small flanker named after a Leicester legend), and some coolheaded play from Rooney and Evans at half back. Tries came through arch poacher Ranger who scored under the posts from an offload from man of the match Baker, and Paul Keogh playing in his favoured position of center and celebrating his 50th in style after a well worked backs move up the hill.

The second half saw experience give way to fitness and youth as the seconds, aided by a huge penalty count and a sin binning (Dafyd)against the vets, fought their way back in to the game with tries from Sam Lilley (Seconds man of the match surely)whose battle with Gav Baker was worth the entrance fee alone, and Andrew Cranstone who crashed over from ten yards after handing off a misfooted, slipping, tired, Vets No3.

With the 2nds converting only one of their tries the vets held a two point lead until, given a penalty infront of the vet's post the young 2nd xv no10, bowed to pressure from Cranstone and the Parker twins, took the three points on offer.

From the following kick off after Hart had knocked on again, the peerless vets front row, were able to win there third ball against the head (3-1 Sid)and Baker was able to drive to within ten yards of the tryline, where the ref kindly balanced proceedings by judging the 2nds backs offside allowing Gareth Evans to convert the penalty and the ref to blow the final whistle.
