After three weeks off and more call offs the thirds and vets arranged a rematch, which again proved a fun, highly competitive fixture.

Both teams were bolstered by the addition of players from the academy squad
improving the quality off the game, and with old hand Karl Brown calling the shots the game was never going to be anything but taken seriously.

Captain Goooooooooooooooooooooode for the vets having won the toss elected to play against the wind for the first half. Using this advantage the 3rds where able to pin the vets back in their own half and picked the pace up with a series of tap penalties which enabled Karl Brown to set up Woody who crashed over Barney Hart to score.

For much of the first half the speed and fitness of the younger team forced the veterans into giving away penalties, and with a young backline it was no surprise when the second try came, which with the conversion gave the 3rds a 14 point lead. The vet where kept in the game by a fine performance from the front row, where the tight head was able to win plenty of useful ball against the head, great tactical kicking from the halfbacks and by the dogged tackling of Doran, Payne and Turnbull who in one of the few sorties into the 3rds 22 touch down to keep the vets in touch at half time.

With the change of end the vets where able to use the wind and with more effort at the breakdown where able to manufacture positions too score. One early effort was thwarted by the excellent 3rds scrum half Oliver Brown who may have held up the vets no3 as he bowled towards the line.

After twenty minutes of pressure the vets scored their second try through Adrian Meyers who finished a fifteen phase move, to round the winger to score in the top corner.

The final ten minute with the vets trailing by four points the 3rd team defended dogidly, with old hand Clark and captain Wiltshire tackling all, and when Karl Brown, using the extra weight gained in old age, surprised all by bowling over Gary Risk at the start of a move which took the 3rds to the vets five yard line, it seemed the result would go their way, but with the clock ticking down a clearance from rooney put the vets back within the 22 of the 3rds where they were able too win the line out and set up a series off charges towards the line and after the Tight head prop took the ball to within inches he was able to deftly offload out of the tackle to feed payne who scored and gave the vets a lucky win.
