It was Saturday the 7th of January, the tension and apprehension built as Farnham got ready for their first game of the new year, a friendly against Old Freemans.

The toss was called and farnham had the advantage of the sun behind them from the kick off. The first few break downs seemed to go in farmhams favour, the number nine ollie brown was telling his forwards he wanted them all in and getting structure from his back line. With some good hands the ball managed its way to the winger Dave Hurley who with fantastic pace scored his try of the game, which was fantastically converted by the number ten Karl brown. Old Freemans gained structure to their defence and Farnham began to gain confidence as a team.

The second half proceeded with a fresh set of legs on both teams. Farnham needed to have more structure and Old Freemans utilised this as they began to work the line and maximise the pace they had on the wing. However Farnham's forwards began to use their power and began to power through the back line resulting in Woody getting his try of the match. Old Freemans did not let this set them back however creating space and working the line they were able to obtain their first try. With again utilising their better structured back line the old used hands well and scored another try. The Old Freemans number ten had a fantastic game and was opening holes in the Farnham's defence. Even with Ollie Brown who had an astounding game, was unable to stop the power of their forwards as they broke through the line and gained another try. The end result was that Old Freemans won the match but Farnham had begun to improve towards the end of the game as a unit, one fantastic player from the Farnham side was Ollie Brown who made every tackle and created some brilliant opportunities.
