Farnham u18s take the win in the First Round of the Surrey Cup

Farnham were 1st to strike through a penalty from Patrick Sykes after 3mins. OR hit back immediately from the restart with a converted try in the corner. Farnham responded with some excellent phase play working the ball into OR’s 22 and quick hands through the backs gave Max an opportunity to score out wide to put the Home side 1 pt ahead. It was then down to the forwards to continue applying pressure through our set piece to gain field position in kicking range and finally break through with a score from Jacob from close range to extend the lead to 18-7. OR hit back with an effective kick chase into our goal area and confusion over a high hit to Jamie resulting in a score to make it 18-14. Farnham responded straight from the kick-off to secure quick ball that went through the hands to find Max who scored on the stroke of half time. 23-14.



Second half saw a change up with Oli Pye, Ethan Clarkson and Tom Prosser off the bench. Fresh legs saw us punching holes through the midfield. We continued our success at line outs, and held up a resurgent OR pack. The second half was tightly contested with both teams scoring twice (Ethan & Malachi for Farnham) the difference was Tom P managing to convert both our tries and slot a penalty resulting in a final score 40-26 Farnham.



All 20 players contributed to a confident display of controlled, effective free flowing rugby. Something to build on as we look to progress through the competition.
