Almost straight from the kick-off Effingham & Leatherhead scored an easy try which definitely wasn't inline with the lads usual defensive effort, but it certainly sparked the Farnham Academy lads to life. Sustained pressure from Farnham resulted in two nicely worked tries from line-out drives either side of Effingham's second gimme try and put the game in the balance. Effingham decided to go for the posts from two penalties and their kicker put them through with ease. Farnham's excellent back plays put two more tries (bonus point) on the board, alas it wasn't quite enough though.
It could so easily have been different, but for a third successive line-out driven maul penalty which culminated in an injury time try to Effingham. There was a thought that the referee would reverse the final penalty in favor of Farnham as a reckless late tackle upended a Farnham lad - but no, the referee, who had a good game, saw it differently.
Well-done lads - you played a blinder.
