The Academy bounced back from a couple of narrow losses with a 4 try win against Guildford in their first Waterfall Cup game.
It was a complete team performance with the pack led by try scorer Toby Richards in dominant form at the set piece & around the park. Props Jake Kimberley and Josh Smith led a strong scrummaging performance in the first period and Max Davison was particularly prominent with several strong carries.
Half backs Oliver Male & Fin Anderson ran the show in the first half, with Anderson contributing a try and 2 conversions. Brilliant hands from Ben Atkins led to a 3rd try from Alfie McCormick on the stroke of half time.
The second half was a tighter affair with a well taken try from Archie Rawnsley the only Farnham score. Farnham also got on the wrong side of the Referee in the 2nd half, with 4 consecutive penalties resulting in good field position and a consultation try for Guildford.
It they can reduce the penalty count the Academy will be a tough proposition this season.
