"This club is my club and it is a great one. It is a proud community in itself and a valuable member of the wider one"

As many of you are aware academy club player Jordan Frost recently had a somewhat radical make over. His previous "floppy locks" look was replaced by a much smarter all over No 1 trim. This was not just an overdue convenient grooming solution but partly a show of solidarity with his sister Emily, who is undertaking chemotherapy, and partly a fund raiser for a cancer charity.

Jordan's family will top the amount (£888) collected up to a £1000. The amount is significant as the chosen charity, Josie's Dragonfly Trust, uses its donations to make £500 gifts to young people between the ages of 13 and 23 who are terminally ill with cancer. The cash gifts are unconditional and are aimed at empowering the young person who receives it. The total which will be donated will therefore allow two such gifts to be made in the name of Farnham RUFC. In addition the charity will also be able to claim gift aid back which will add another £280 to their funds.

For your information Josie Grove, who tragically died at the age of 17, was a school friend of Emily when both families lived in Bangkok. Further details of her story and her charity can be found @ http://www.josiesdragonfly.org/

I would be remiss if I didn't record the fact that several other club members/guests (not all from Bordon!) showed their "solidarity" by spontaneously joining in and having their heads shaved as well. Well done.
