Sunny day out for the C's first tournament at Guildford:
The team consisted of William Reid, Jude Thornhill, Johnny Benson, Arthur Shaw, Toby Roberts, Arun Tote, Charlie Smith, Cameron Sampson, Tom Marshal, William Russell and Arthur Bird.
Match 1: vs Guildford. Score lost 3: 4
First on against the home team. Guildford clearly were a well drilled team and came out strong. Despite that it was 2 all at half time. Aided by some blistering tackles by newbies Arthur Shaw and Jude Thornhill. Start of the second half was a slow for Farnham and Guildford sneaked in an early try which we didn't manage to claw back although we came close a couple of times.
Match 2 : vs Rosslyn Park. Score lost 6 :5
Always a strong team to come up against. Nail biting end to end stuff with some fantastic tackling on the line to prevent tries. Really was a game of two halves, they won the first and we won the second half. RP had one particular player who gave them the advantage whereas Farnham put in a real team effort. Eventually Rosslyn park were saved by us going in to touch a couple of times. Clearly improving by this stage.
Match 3 vs Sutton win 5:2
Really gelling together now. Sutton never really got into the game. Our defence was very strong. Particular mention goes to William Russell for some fantastic cover tackling and forcing turn over ball by tackling in to touch.
Match 4 vs Old Reigations: win 5 :4
Had to overcome some questionable reffing decisions in this game. Two tries that probably should have never have been meant we were 4:3 down at half time. Despite this the boys managed to keep their heads and come back for a justified win which even Old Reigations acknowledged was the right result.
Overall a really good day. Good tackling, strong forward running, managed to remember scrum half can't run with the ball (almost )every time and no one got pinged for being offside the whole tournament. A very good squad.
