Four of the Farnham first team came out to Wilkinson Way on a gloriously warm Sunday morning to share their tips and tricks with the U11 squad. First Team captain, Toby Comley, Pack leader Buster Bond, Scrum Half Ben Rubio and Full Back Gabe Hills gave generously of their time to share their love of the game with the U11s and what a difference they made!
Toby and Buster started with the forwards, running drills on Tackling and Mauling. The boys really benefitted from advice on taking a stable wide defensive stance and on bossing the game by better communications.
Meanwhile Ben and Gabe were working with the backs on improving their passing skills and running into space.
As the whole squad rotated through the various sessions the improvements in skills and techniques were there for all to see and Buster remarked on how well the boys picked up what they were trying to teach.
At the end of a busy 2 hour session, the Firsts nominated their players of the day and Olly Kirkpatrick thanked the guys on behalf of a grateful U11 squad.
Judging by the skills and commitment the Firsts showed with the U11s they fully deserve a successful end to what's already been a record breaking season and if only a little of that has rubbed off on the U11s today, Exmouth had better watch out on the Surf and Turf Minis tour in a couple of weeks time!
Thanks again to the guys for giving up their Sunday morning and we look forward to seeing you on the U11's training pitches again sometime soon.
