First very wet game of the season

First very wet game of the season against the unbeaten Reading Abbey, whose previous noticeable scalps included beating London Irish 21-10

Game kicked off and unfortunately through lack of concentration we were down 12-0 in the first 10 minutes.

The Farnham machine woke up and came back to 12-5 at half time having played up the slope. The forwards started getting the ascendency and Louie Kirkham was incredibly strong from number 8. Scoring his first half try at pace around the ruck.

Second half Farnham had scrum dominance and all the pack were immense. Their coach stated they hadn’t played against a better pack for the last 2 seasons.

The conditions meant we couldn’t spin the ball as much as we would have liked but Sam Williams in the backs made good yardage in heavy conditions. A crossfield kick from Jonty Pendleton gave Max Williams another score before the unstoppable Louie went over again.

Abbey scored a late try to make the last 5 minutes a nail bitter but the defence was huge.

Farnham win 17-19.
MoM was Sonny Brandon who was a rock in the front row, in the rucks, open play and his handling in wet conditions for a 3 was fantastic
