Quins Cup - Haslemere 0 - 45 Farnham
A short trip down the A287 for the U15A's on Sunday to face Haslemere in the all new Quins Cup. With lots of players returning to regular Farnham duty after school rugby last term, training had been particularly focused since the New Year. With Haslemere looking big and slick in the warm-up Farnham certainly knew they would have to turn up.
Which, following a nervous beginning with a few dropped passes, they certainly did. It took 15 minutes to open the scoring but then tries from Chris Ratcliffe, Max Campbell-Harris, Jake Epps, Ben Atkins and a hat-trick on debut from "fast" Harry Smith, along with 3 conversions from Finlay Anderson and 2 from Dylan Milner resulted in a resounding 45-0 victory. Haslemere battered the Farnham line for lengthy periods in both halves so keeping the hosts scoreless was a major success.
Podium Points could have gone to any of the 21 but for the record they went to -
Max Campbell-Harris - led a mighty scrummaging display along with his usual barn storming runs
Tom Garner - a huge game from the big man in the centre of everything
Harry Smith - lethal finishing from the left winger and a couple of great cover tackles too
A top job boys - Next stop in the Quin's cup is likely to be vs Cranleigh in round 2 on 11th February where another big performance will be needed to secure a win.
