Farnham v Warlingham U15 B League match
A great autumn morning at Farnham RUFC with ideal conditions for running Rugby.
It was Warlingam RUFC’s U15 first trip to our new ground at this age group and the first time our boys played each other since mini rugby.
Warlingham started very strongly and scored a couple of quick trys. Their winger was particularly impressive as none of the Farnham would be tacklers could get a finger on him. Farnham’s forwards started to apply pressure and forced penalties which resulted in prolonged periods of time in Warlinghams twenty-two. Farnham then scored a couple of trys of their own to bring the scores all square at half time. A first half where both sides suffered from dropped passes and poor decisions which should really have been transformed into scores.
The second half was too close to call when both teams scored early trys, the only difference then being Warlinghams better conversion rate. Warlinghams back line through the centres and fast winger looked like scoring every time they got the ball, however Farnham’s less than pretty but effective tackling seemed to work.
A couple of injuries shook both teams which resulted in the final quarter being played out 14 v 14.
In the final minutes the Farnham forwards put on a great and powerful effort to march the ball out of their half and up to the Warlinhgam try line, where two penalty infringements put Farnham in a great position to score. As the seconds ticked away the Farnham forwards drove over the line for a committed score taking the final total to 22-19.
A great game played by two well matched teams that went right down to the wire.
