Here is a brief summary of the key events from this weeks AGM.

Junior Player and other awards at the AGM
Each year at the AGM (held yesterday evening), the Club awards special trophies to two players from the Junior Section.

The Jonny Wilkinson Award (U18): Jordan Frost
Awarded to an outstanding player who has grown through the club mini/junior ranks and gone on to play for the Senior club. Jordan debuted for the 1st XV this season and his citation reads “He is a talented and determined player who always gives his all in every game, but plays with a commendable sense of sportsmanship and respect for his team-mates and the opposition. He is also a true clubman and is a regular volunteer whenever help is needed round the club.”

The Phil Young Award (U14): Johnny Redford
The award commemorates Phil who as chairman of the Mini Junior section was tragically killed in a car accident returning from a junior rugby tournament. It is awarded to “a player who regularly attends training and matches, sets a good example in everything they do and puts in 100% effort. This player may not be the most talented, but everything he does is unselfish and for his team.”

Clubman of the Year: Gary Stennet
For his skillful, determined and passionate coaching over the years.

The Keith Daniels Award: James Frost.
In memory of the man who essentially launched the Academy system, this award goes to those who make a major contribution to the flow of junior players to the senior sides.

The referees love us!
“Referees queue up to come to Farnham,” said London Referee Society rep and club stalwart John ‘JR’ Robertson. Making his remarks during AOB at the AGM, JR went on to say, “They love coming here. They enjoy the way we play the game, our spirit and our camaraderie. That says a lot about this club. You should be proud of it and do everything to keep it going.”

More grounds needed.
“We are looking to purchase more land adjacent the club so making the clubhouse the epicenter for all home playing,” said Chairman Geoff Robins answering a question from the floor. “We are having conversations with a number of parties but it would not be useful to share details until we have some definite news.
“We are also looking at a 3G pitch on the current grounds. But with costs measured in hundreds of thousands, we don’t anticipate anything happening in the near future. We’ve a team looking at a new fundraising initiative along the lines of the Foundation to help fund these initiatives. Ideas, input and help from members are most welcome,” said Geoff.
