U11 Braemar cup V Farnham Jaguars
A great days rugby with Jaguars starting at full throttle.
Playing in the B2 draw the Jaguars started on full throttle with a magnificent game against Dorking.
The Wimbledon ref used advantage to allow the game to flow with flowing, open rugby with multiple phases of ball retention played by both sides. Tries from Samuels and Fletcher enables Farnham to edge Dorking 2-1.
The team’s confidence from the first game continued into their game against Wimbledon where despite a slight wobble at the start, Farnham dominated with 2 tries from Blake-Pead and a try a piece from Scott and Shepard giving Farnham a 4-1 win. The boys are perhaps taking too much notice of the professionals as when the ref indicated last play, the ball was recovered from the scrum and booted directly over the goal post and fence into touch.
The team’s heads were down after game 3 with perhaps over confidence and tiredness starting to creep resulting in the team’s first loss of the season. Esher were definitely the stronger side with the record showing Baker’s try as the only Farnham try but if we had a TMO I’m sure Samuel’s try would have been awarded. 1-3.
Switched to the other pitch for back-to-back games against Guildford and Cobham. The boys allowed the loss against Esher to weigh and played quite a sloppy game with missed and dropped passes to allow Guildford to triumph 0-2. The team recovered for their final game and defended well against hosts Cobham with Blake-Pead’s try resulting in a 1-1 draw.
All in all a great day’s rugby with the boys learning to cope with disappointment as a team.
