Farnham U15Bs show a strong hand vs Reeds Weybridge
A fantastic team performance saw the U15Bs victorious against nemesis team Reeds Weybridge. Top play from a team showing Farnham's strength in depth.
Match Report: Mike Richards
A strong performance from the B’s was rewarded with a richly deserved win at Reeds B’s. Once the team realised that a vigorous warm up would help them hit the ground running and it certainly did when Oli Wingfield scored the first try of the match that came from a solid line out into the centres was recycled out of the ruck when who should we find at outside centre? That’s right Oli Wingfield tighthead prop. A near miss from Sam J made it 5-0.
A great run along the wing from Max Parker lead to a Reeds lineout on their 5 yard line, a fumble by Reeds led to a Farnham scrum, quick recycling leading to yes you guessed it Oli Wingfield, ball hungry prop, scoring his second try of the match. Rapidly followed by a lovely two points from Sam J.
Reeds came back through some strong forward work with one particularly strong runner having to be double man tackled before eventually having to be removed for losing the plot but that was not before they had scored a converted try. 12-7 to Farnham still all to play for.
Other highlights of the first half great tackling by Cameron Bellenger, Ben Seymour and some commited defensive work by Toby Richards. In the centres great tackling by Mattie Hodson. Supported by excellent decision making and clever kicking by Charlie Cochrane.
A typically rousing half time talk by Dominic supported by other coaches ensured game heads were on. Although uphill in second half and the team knew there was a job to do strong pressure particularly by the forwards resulted in Josh, the blindside flanker, scoring from some great support running. 17-7.
After Reeds came back and were rewarded a 5m scrum and despite some valiant defending, they scored 5 points from a pick and go. 17-12.
Oh well Farnham had let the pressure tell. What else could we do?
Well you guessed it after a beautifully called move off the lineout Farnham’s hat trick hero, Oli Wingfield, front row snaffled the ball to make it 22-12.
A frantic 5 minutes ensued but the right team won on the day.
