U15 v Chobham 6 February 2005
Within five minutes of the whistle, Hector Hoyt-Bone scored a try following quick thinking and slick hands from a penalty.  Ben Rubio dropped a goal on the stroke of half time and the game looked winnable at half time despite two earlier converted tries by Chobham.  One of these was the result of a defensive lapse as Chobham attacked from deep, the other a very well worked back move with the full back attacking the line at pace. Nevertheless, Farnham’s attacking options always looked the more threatening following adjustments to the half-back pairing.
The opening salvos of the second half were even.  The firm ground gave Farnham runners the opportunity to show their skills, however the forwards still contrived to be second at the breakdown and so lost a too much turnover ball in contact.  These turnovers were compounded by a weak display of tackling and ill directed kicking out of hand over a ten minute period in which Chobham ran in four tries, all but one expertly converted.
With the tie effectively lost, it was a credit to the Farnham boy’s spirit that they scored the final try of the match following concerted pressure, quick ball and powerful play.  If only those last few minutes had typified their performance?
