- Farnham Rugby Under15 continued to improve their season with a win over local rivals Alton 17-0 in a friendly fixture played at Wrecclesham.
There was no score at the end of a closely fought first period.Farnham had the edge with territory and possession. However they could not convert this advantage into points as the final passes went astray while Alton’s defence kept the pressure on.
The second half saw Farnham’s improved ability to win and retain possession up front converted into three tries. The first came from loose forward James Morris crashing over from close range; then No 10 Ben Rubio scored with a mazy run through midfield; finally powerful winger Chris Thorne dashed in for a clinical finish from 20 yards out.
“The boys played some good rugby,” said coach Jamie Salmon.“They kept the ball well, showed some good skills out wide and the shut out shows just how well they defended.I was particularly pleased with the performance from the lads who have been on the bench for much of this season.I’ve got some new selection problems now, but they are good problems to have.”
