The Farnham team playing at Guildford won the U11 Cup today.
Right from the first whistle the boys played as a team, with strong tackling and support play. Fielding one of the smallest packs at the tournament, the forwards battled well to secure good ball for the backs. Our rucking still needs lots of work, we obviously like to make it hard for ourselves. But the ball handling of all the players stood out today with one memorable try coming from a move that went through the hands to the right wing and then back again for a score by the left wing.
Farnham v Guildford 10 - 0
Farnham v Epsom & Leatherhead 5 – 10: This was one of the most exciting games of rugby I have seen for ages. Farnham crossed the line 3 times in the last 2 minutes, each time the ball being held up!??!
Farnham v Aldershot 25-0: The boys were hurting from the previous game.
Farnham and Guildford had the same number of points and the same number of tries scored. Rather than settle the matter with the toss of a coin, Farnham went through to the final against Dorking on the number of tries conceded.
Farnham v Dorking 5-5: A very tight well fought game, with Farnham playing the more fluid game. Dorking scored after a very long restart put them on the Farnham line for the one and only time in the game.
The result a shared win.......but we were playing a far more flowing game. As the cup was handed out in alphabetical order.....we came away with the biggest. Quite right too!
All 15 boys took part in every game and they all played their hearts out when on the pitch. Great stuff.
Many thanks to all the parents for braving the elements and for their vocal support and many thanks to John Warn for bringing the tent.
