Academy flies the Farnham colours at Haslemere 7s
A squad of this year's Academy players - bolstered by able volunteers including one of next year's squad - represented Farnham at the annual Haslemere 7's tournament and did the club proud. In the group stages they played four, won two, drew one and their only loss was to the ultimate tournament winners. In the semi finals they were pipped four tries to two in a close game. Introduction to the Academy
The FRUFC Academy combines the U17 and U18 age groups. The squad is a "joint venture" between the Mini Junior Section and Senior Club to enable junior players to make the transition to senior rugby. The Academy competes in the Surrey U18 League which plays its games in the latter half of the season. The squad has a busy schedule of non-league games versus other mixed age-group developement teams throughout the season. See last year's fixture list (with reports) and this season's fixtures below. In its first highly successful year (2006/7) the Academy was runner-up in the Surrey U18 championship loosing out only by points difference. The Academy welcomes any eligible young person who has the desire to play rugby at senior level and who wishes to develop the skills and the physical ability to do so.
