On a spring-like day at Effingham, Farnham Academy continued their unbeaten league season with a comprehensive victory keeping a clean sheet in defence and running in three exhilarating tries. It took a half for Farnham to click into gear. In the fist half the exchanges were even with neither side threatening the opponents line and both given only one penalty shot at goal. Skipper Ben Rubio converted his chance to give Farnham a slender 3-0 lead at half time. The first half for Farnham had been dogged by poor decisions our wide, poor ball at the set piece and a lack of commitment at the break down. The half time pep talk from stand-in coach Andrew Rubio had the desired effect. With good possession at the set piece, turn over ball from the line out, and slick recycling and support play, Farnham's talented backs found the space to show their skills. The first try came from a kick into the Effingham 22 from Rubio which the Effingham cover fumbled allowing the hard chasing Dominic Parker to pinch the score with a sharp piece of finishing. The second try was scored by inside centre Tom O'Connell after a lovely piece of interplay between the backs in a narrow channel by the touchline. By the time the third try was scored Effingham were looking tired and gaps were appearing. Multiple phases from Farnham stretched the Effingham defence and the move was finished off by some straight running from the backs to release flanker Ed Weeks to touch down in the corner. None of the tries were converted. Second row James Morris was awarded man of the match for his outstanding work at the breakdown and as a support runner making a number of penetrating carries.
